Care Groups
Care Groups are a way we grow together.
A Care Group is a group of 10-12 people who gather in a home each week (or every two weeks). Our Care Groups spend time catching up and sharing their lives together, praying for one another, and studying God’s Word. Care Groups help us connect to the Bible better, they help us feel like we’re a part of God’s family, and help us build relationships that can strengthen and encourage us in times of struggle and pressure. We aren’t meant to work out our faith alone, and God calls us to carry one another’s burdens. Care Groups are one of the ways we respond to Jesus’ invitation to draw closer to Him and to others.
Our Sunday messages are a great starting point for knowing and applying God’s Word. In a small group setting, you can ask questions, participate in a discussion of the text, and hear others share insights and illustrations of the truth you are trying to grasp. Applying the Bible’s teaching to your personal context happens best with the shared wisdom and support of a small group of people.
Most people who have been a part of a group say the greatest benefit is the close relationships and friendships that develop. You’ll discover that your needs and problems are not unique - we’re all in the same boat. It helps to know that others are facing the same difficulties, or have lived through them and grown through the process. Over fifty times in the New Testament the phrase "one another" is used to describe our relationship to other believers. We are instructed to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, accept one another, bear one another’s burdens, and build up one another. The only way you can obey these commands is in a small group! We really do need each other.
Small groups provide practical support in times of crisis, change, and stress. You’ll have a sense of stability and security knowing there are people who really care for you and are committed to standing with you. When someone loses a job, a family member experiences extended illness, a mother needs a babysitter - these practical needs can be naturally taken care of through your small group. Many people in our church could testify that they would not have made it through their season of hardship the same way if it hadn’t been for the support of their group. Genuine and timely care can take place in a small group.
We would love to help get you connected to a Care Group. We have groups that meet on different days at different times, and we’d be happy to find something that works well for you. You can get in touch using the form below.
